YouTube plans to implement the video generation model Veo 3 into the YouTube Shorts service this summer. This was announced by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. The new version of the model from Google allows creating videos using AI that are almost indistinguishable from regular clips and will be able to work with audio.
Previously, shorts creators could use the previous version of Veo to create background images using the “Dream Screen” feature or generate individual short clips. With the advent of Veo 3, improvements in video quality and expanded opportunities for content creators are expected.
To create videos using Veo 3, a subscription to Google’s paid “AI Pro” or “AI Ultra” plan is currently required. Whether this requirement will remain for shorts users, the company has not yet specified. Google notes that short videos are viewed over 200 billion times daily, and the new feature could attract even more creators.
