YouTube has launched a new AI-powered feature to simplify content search. Now, some Premium subscribers in the US on Android and iOS see a special AI-generated block during searches. It appears as a collection of videos with short AI-created descriptions, helping to quickly find the needed information. The feature works for queries like “shopping,” “travel,” or “what to do in a certain place.” For example, when searching for “best beaches in Hawaii,” users will see videos with beach reviews, snorkeling spots, and accompanying descriptions.
To watch the full video, simply click on the large clip at the top of the panel. Each description helps to understand what the video is about without watching it entirely. The feature is available only in English and works for a limited number of Premium users.
Additionally, some non-Premium users in the US can now use the “Ask” tool, which appears below the video. With this chatbot, you can get a brief summary of the video, ask for advice on similar content, or find out details like the song title, genre, or artist.
The chatbot operates on large language models and uses information from YouTube and the internet. The dialogue with the bot occurs without stopping the main video, and the responses appear in a new window.
