YouTube is introducing a new tool that will allow content creators to use AI to generate custom instrumental tracks that can be added to videos. In an update on its Creator Insider channel, the company announced that it is gradually rolling out this feature in its Creator Music marketplace, launched in 2023. This resource is designed to make it easier to find music for videos and to understand the costs associated with this process. The new feature will give creators another free option for music selection.
Users who have access to this feature will see a “Music Assistant” tab in Creator Music. In the text field, you can describe the desired type of music, specifying instruments, mood, and video type. For convenience, several prompts are placed below the field to help you get started. Once generated, tracks can be downloaded and added to your videos. YouTube notes that this music is free to use, so creators won’t have to worry about copyright claims.
The feature is available to creators in the US who participate in the YouTube Partner Program. Previously, YouTube tested a similar generative AI feature called “Dream Track,” which allowed users to create thirty-second music tracks in the style of famous artists. Currently, this feature is focused exclusively on instrumental music, as stated in YouTube’s documentation.
