This week, xAI is preparing to launch a new version of its generative AI model — Grok 3.5. The main feature of the update will be an improved voice mode, which already shows a number of changes in the user interface in the latest build for iOS. In particular, a toggle has appeared in the settings, allowing the voice mode to launch automatically when the app is opened, indicating deeper integration of voice interactions.

The voice mode interface has undergone significant changes — now the switch between chat and voice modes is located at the top of the screen, while voice settings such as personality selection, speed, and voice type are grouped in a pull-up panel at the bottom. This approach optimizes the model’s use on larger devices.
Another innovation is a transparent overlay for viewing through the camera, creating a mixed reality effect. Although integration with the real world has not yet been confirmed, the change in appearance suggests a possible move by xAI toward spatial or AR technologies. For now, these features remain unavailable to the general public and can only be activated through special settings.
At the same time, the Grok app for Android is testing personality support in voice mode, although this feature is not yet enabled. This approach demonstrates xAI’s work to provide a unified voice control experience across platforms. Grok 3.5 is expected to be an important step toward realizing these plans, and users will be able to try out the model’s new features as early as this week.
