xAI has released the source code of the AI model Grok 2.5 and published its weights on the Hugging Face platform. Elon Musk announced this on his X account, noting that Grok 2.5 was their best model in 2024. He also promised that in about half a year, open access to Grok 3 would be available.
Grok 2.5 is available under the xAI Community License. Users can use this model for free for research and non-commercial projects, but for commercial use, specific xAI rules must be followed. The license prohibits using Grok 2.5 to create or train other large AI models.
If someone plans to distribute this model, they must indicate the source and add the label “Powered by xAI”. The model can already be downloaded on Hugging Face, allowing researchers and enthusiasts to experiment with the capabilities of Grok 2.5.
This opens access to modern AI capabilities for a wider range of users. Grok 2.5 can be used for creating chatbots, text analysis, and other tasks related to natural language processing.
