WordPress.com has launched a new tool for building websites using generative AI. This feature, available for free to platform users, is aimed at entrepreneurs, freelancers, bloggers, and others who need a professional online presence. While this tool is not suitable for creating complex products, such as e-commerce sites, it helps quickly build a simple, functional website.
Users can interact with a chatbot using their own text and images, as well as customize its design. To get started, simply enter a prompt describing your website idea, for example, “create a site for my café.” This feature is only available for new sites.
After creating the site, users can make changes via the AI chat or manually. Thirty AI requests are provided for free, after which you need to choose a plan that includes unlimited requests. This allows you to try the tool and see if it meets your needs before switching to paid hosting.
To publish your site online, you need a paid plan, which ranges from forty-eight to three hundred dollars per year. WordPress.com notes that users who create a site with AI must choose between the Premium or Business plans. These plans include a certain amount of storage, a free domain for one year, access to premium themes, and customer support. The AI site creation tool is included in these plans at no extra cost.
