WordPress announced the creation of a dedicated team to develop AI-based products within the developer community. The team includes James LePage, who leads AI at Automattic, Felix Arntz and Pascal Birchler from Google, as well as Jeff Paul, the open-source director at 10up.
WordPress has long been one of the most popular platforms for website creation, and developers from the community are actively experimenting with AI-based tools. The formation of a separate team aims to streamline these efforts, avoid dispersion, and ensure alignment with the platform’s long-term goals.
Currently, WordPress developers have published over six hundred and sixty different plugins utilizing AI. Among the most in-demand are template generators, SEO optimization tools, and AI-based chatbots. These products allow users to simplify site settings, automate routine processes, and enhance interaction with visitors.
