Warner Music Group has signed a licensing agreement with the AI-based music generation platform Suno. Under this agreement, Suno users will be able to create music using the voices, names, images, and compositions of artists who agree to participate in the program. Warner Music Group notes that artists such as Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, and Twenty One Pilots will have full control over how their names and music are used. Warner Music Group is the first major music company to officially sign such an agreement with Suno.
The Suno platform claims that this will allow users to create works based on the sound of selected artists and provide them with rewards. Company representatives emphasize that the collaboration opens up new opportunities for interaction between artists and their audience.
Following the agreement, Warner Music Group withdrew its lawsuit against Suno, which concerned allegations of mass copyright violations. Recently, major music labels have been increasingly collaborating with AI-based services, signing licensing agreements instead of pursuing legal actions.
The Suno platform plans to use licensed music from Warner Music Group to develop new music generation models that are expected to surpass the capabilities of its current model v5.
