At a White House press conference, a new joint initiative called “The Stargate Project” was announced, bringing together OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank. The initiative aims to create a network of data centers to advance artificial intelligence in the US. The project is set to receive $500 billion in investment over the next four years.

The first phase of construction will begin in Texas, with other potential sites being considered across the country. Project participants, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Arm, and MGX, plan to build new infrastructure to support OpenAI. Masayoshi Son, Sam Altman, and Larry Ellison, who attended the event, emphasized the project’s importance for US national security and the economy.

As stated in a joint company announcement, “The Stargate Project” will contribute to the reindustrialization of the US and the creation of hundreds of thousands of jobs. President Donald Trump emphasized that the project is a testament to the trust in his administration and an important step in supporting US leadership in AI.

SoftBank acts as the project’s financial partner, while OpenAI is responsible for its operational management. Oracle, Nvidia, and OpenAI will closely collaborate to create and manage the new computing system. The project is also expected to support the development of AI chips, which OpenAI is already working on with Broadcom and TSMC.
