OpenAI has added new features to its video generator Sora. Now users can create and use their own characters — so-called “character cameos” — and add them to their AI videos. You can choose images of pets, illustrations, or toys, or use ready-made heroes already available in the app.
Each character gets its own name and access settings. The user can keep it private, share it with subscribers, or open it to everyone in Sora. Characters are stored in the profile and can be used in different projects by simply tagging them in the video.
To celebrate the launch of the feature, Sora offers a festive set of five ready-made characters on the Halloween theme: Dracula, Frankenstein, ghost, witch, and pumpkin head. In addition, Sora now has the ability to combine several videos into one longer clip and view leaderboards with the most popular videos and character cameos.
OpenAI has temporarily simplified access to Sora for new users. Now residents of the USA, Canada, Japan, and Korea can register without an invitation. This allows enthusiasts to try out the new AI-based video generator features faster.
