Snapchat has introduced a new feature called “Imagine Lens,” which allows users to create and edit images using an AI-based image generator. This feature is available only to Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ subscribers. Users can input their own text prompts, such as “create an image of an angry cat” or “turn me into an alien,” and receive corresponding pictures.

In addition to individual prompts, “Imagine Lens” includes a set of ready-made options, like “make me a comic book hero” or “turn this person into a skydiver.” Once an image is created, it can be shared with friends, posted in a Story, or sent outside of Snapchat. The generation prompt can be changed at any time by clicking on the caption panel.

The company reports that this is the first Snapchat lens with fully open prompts for image creation. It uses a combination of proprietary and popular AI models, although the exact model is not disclosed. The new lens can be found at the top of the lens carousel or in the “Exclusive” category.

The Snapchat+ Platinum subscription costs $15.99 per month, and Lens+ is $8.99 per month. Since the beginning of the year, Snap has been actively integrating AI into its services, including releasing a separate Lens Studio app for creating AR lenses and the first video lenses based on generative AI.
