At the Samsung Unpacked 2025 presentation, the company unveiled the new Galaxy S25 smartphone series, which includes the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra models. At the same time, Google announced an update for its AI-powered assistant — Gemini. Starting Wednesday, users will be able to take advantage of the improved Gemini, which integrates into various apps and services on Samsung devices. Now, you can perform multiple actions across different apps with a single request. For example, find a nearby restaurant using Google Maps and simultaneously send recommendations via Google Messages.
Samsung has also launched new Gemini extensions for its apps, such as Samsung Calendar, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder. In addition, new features for Gemini Live were introduced, enabling voice communication with the assistant. Users can upload images, files, and even YouTube videos into the conversation, making Gemini Live more multimodal and context-aware.
In the coming months, Samsung will integrate the capabilities of Project Astra — Google’s real-time multimodal AI assistant. Among the new features are shared screen viewing and real-time video streaming. These capabilities will first appear in the Gemini app for Android and later on Galaxy S25 series smartphones. The new Galaxy S25 models also feature a dedicated side button for quick access to Gemini.
