The service Runway, which previously used AI only for video generation, has announced its entry into the video game market. Next week, the company is launching a new platform called “Game Worlds,” which will allow users to create text-based adventure games using their own descriptions and AI-generated images.
Currently, these games support only text and images. Users will have a simple chat interface where they can input text and receive corresponding game elements created by AI. Video integration is planned for this year.
Runway CEO Cristóbal Valenzuela stated that the company is in talks with gaming studios to use their data for training AI models. According to him, game developers have started adopting AI faster than film studios did at the start of their collaboration with Runway.
The “Game Worlds” platform will be available to everyone at play.runwayml.com. The company plans to gradually expand the service’s functionality by adding new features for creating interactive games.
