Prime Video, owned by Amazon, has announced the launch of dubbing tests using generative AI for selected licensed films and series. The new dubbing service will be available in English and Latin American Spanish. The company explains that combining AI with localization professionals will ensure quality control.

At the initial stage, the service will be available for twelve titles that previously did not have dubbing support. Among these are the Spanish animated film “El Cid: La Leyenda,” the family drama “Mi Mamá Lora,” and the independent film “Long Lost.” The use of AI for dubbing is becoming increasingly popular in the entertainment industry, as it helps make content more accessible to a wider audience.

Various major streaming platforms have already begun adopting this technology. For example, Deepdub, a company specializing in AI-powered dubbing, collaborates with Paramount+. YouTube is also investing in this area, having recently introduced an automatic dubbing feature that allows creators to translate their videos into multiple languages.

Prime Video already offers several AI-based features aimed at enhancing the viewing experience, including “X-Ray Recaps,” which summarize entire seasons and episodes, and “Dialogue Boost,” which improves audio clarity for dialogues that may be hard to hear.
