Decart, in collaboration with Etched, has introduced Oasis — the world’s first video game fully generated by artificial intelligence in real time. The project is funded by leading investors, including Sequoia Capital.
Oasis operates without a traditional game engine. All game elements, including physics, graphics, and rules, are created during gameplay. Players can interact with objects, build, access inventory, and explore dynamic worlds that change according to their actions.
The project is based on a transformer architecture optimized for the new Sohu hardware. This allows the model to run at 20 frames per second. In the future, the team promises to increase the quality to 4K, opening up possibilities for even more realistic worlds.
Despite impressive results, the developers acknowledge some challenges: the graphics can sometimes be blurry, and object control is imprecise. However, they are confident that with further model scaling and hardware improvements, these shortcomings will be eliminated.
