The startup Perplexity, known for its ambitious initiatives in the field of search technologies, announced its intention to acquire and transform TikTok. In the company’s blog, it is stated that Perplexity aims to create a new TikTok algorithm without monopolization, combining advanced technical capabilities with independence from large corporations. This could be an important step in the development of a platform that holds great promise.
Perplexity claims it intends to rebuild the TikTok algorithm from scratch in American data centers under US supervision. In addition, the plan is to make the recommendation system transparent and open, as well as to update the AI infrastructure using Nvidia Dynamo technology. Such an approach could provide a new level of trust in the platform among users.
Among other planned changes is the integration of Perplexity’s search capabilities with TikTok’s video library, which could improve content personalization for users who link their accounts. The addition of multilingual features through automatic translation is also envisioned, which will help expand the platform’s audience.
However, it is still unclear whether TikTok is seriously considering Perplexity’s offer, as giants such as Oracle and Microsoft are also among the contenders to purchase TikTok’s US operations. Despite this, Perplexity continues to actively seek funding to support its ambitious plans, which could significantly change TikTok’s future.
