The startup Perplexity has launched a macOS app, turning the service from a web tool into a standalone program that quickly answers queries and gathers the necessary information.
The launch on macOS expands Perplexity’s capabilities — users can take advantage of voice commands and file uploads. In addition, the app allows users to ask follow-up questions and view their conversation history.
The Perplexity app for macOS is free, but also offers a Perplexity Pro subscription for $20 per month or $200 per year. Subscribers get over 300 more detailed search queries per month, providing users with a deeper understanding of topics.
Perplexity’s move to macOS marks another step in the company’s development, as it actively seeks additional investment of $500 million. According to The Wall Street Journal, the new funding round will double the startup’s valuation to $8 billion.
