Perplexity has announced a new milestone — 100 million search queries per week. As stated by Perplexity founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas, the platform now processes approximately 400 million queries per month, compared to 250 million in July.
The surge in user activity is accompanied by large-scale changes to the service. Among other things, the startup is preparing to enter the e-commerce market. Subscribers to the paid Perplexity Pro version will be able to make one-click purchases. According to Financial Times, the company also plans to introduce an advertising model and is negotiating with well-known brands such as Nike and Marriott regarding sponsored queries.
However, as we reported earlier, Perplexity’s rapid growth is happening against the backdrop of conflicts with publishers. Media companies Dow Jones and NY Post have decided to sue for unauthorized use of their materials. In turn, representatives of the AI search engine stated that their opponents are advocating for a halt to technological progress.
