OpenAI announced an update for its Sora app, which generates videos using AI and has already topped the App Store rankings in the US and Canada since its launch in September. In the coming days, users will receive new tools for creating videos, including the “character cameo” feature. It will allow adding personal pets, toys, and other objects as virtual characters in videos.
Users will be able to create AI images based on their video recordings and share them with friends. For convenience, the interface will feature a real-time view of the most popular “cameos.” Sora will also receive basic editing tools, primarily the ability to merge multiple video clips into one video. The company plans to gradually add new editing capabilities.
Special attention will be given to social features. The app will allow creating channels for communication within a university, company, or sports club. OpenAI is also working on reducing the strictness of generated content moderation and improving the program’s stability.
The Sora version for Android is already available for pre-registration on Google Play, and the company promises its launch soon.
