OpenAI has announced a new feature for ChatGPT called “Projects.” This feature allows users to organize files and chats in one place, making it easier to manage work that involves multiple chats. All project elements—chats, files, and instructions—are stored together. Users can create new projects by adding files and customizing instructions for a personalized ChatGPT approach to individual projects.
The “Projects” feature is currently available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Teams users. Free users will get access “as soon as possible,” while Enterprise and Edu users will have it “at the beginning of the new year.”
In “Projects,” you can add previous chats to continue them in the context of a new project. This preserves context and allows you to use the project’s files and instructions to get responses from ChatGPT. “It’s a useful way to organize your projects,” an OpenAI employee noted during the demonstration.
New capabilities include Canvas support, advanced data analysis, image generation with DALL•E, and search. However, integration with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive is not supported yet. “Projects” are designed for individual use and cannot be shared with other users.
For those interested in new ChatGPT features, OpenAI recently officially launched Canvas for ChatGPT, providing even more tools to enhance user interaction.
