OpenAI announced an update to its latest model GPT-5. The company aims to make AI “warmer and friendlier” for users. After the launch of GPT-5, some users expressed a preference for the previous version, GPT-4o. OpenAI responded and made changes described as “subtle,” but ones that will make GPT-5 “more accessible.”

Internal tests did not show an increase in the model’s tendency to flatter compared to the previous version.
