OpenAI announced an update to its latest model GPT-5. The company aims to make AI “warmer and friendlier” for users. After the launch of GPT-5, some users expressed a preference for the previous version, GPT-4o. OpenAI responded and made changes described as “subtle,” but ones that will make GPT-5 “more accessible.”
According to the company’s statement, GPT-5 now includes small new elements in responses, such as phrases like “Good question” or “Great start.” OpenAI emphasizes that these changes are not flattery but are intended to create a more genuine connection with the user. Internal tests did not show an increase in the model’s tendency to flatter compared to the previous version.
The company’s Vice President, Nick Turley, noted that GPT-5 was previously “very concise,” but with the update, communication has become warmer. Users can expect a more welcoming and supportive tone in AI responses.
The update is now available to everyone using GPT-5. OpenAI hopes this will improve the AI interaction experience and make communication more comfortable for a wide range of users.
