OpenAI announced the launch of GPT-5 — a new AI model that will become the core for ChatGPT and will be available to all users, including the free tier, albeit with usage limitations. Paid subscribers will receive increased limits, and Pro plan holders will be able to use the extended version of GPT-5 Pro. The model uses a single adaptive architecture that dynamically adjusts the level of “mental effort” depending on the complexity of the query and allows for more efficient handling of both simple and complex tasks.
Among the main innovations are a noticeable reduction in factual errors, higher quality programming, convenient creation of websites and applications, and improved creative writing. GPT-5 handles multi-step logic better and writes code for complex projects faster and more confidently. According to the company, the model produces up to 80% fewer errors in deep analysis mode and fantasizes six times less in responses compared to its predecessor.
ChatGPT has new personalization options. Users can change chat colors and choose one of four pre-configured “personalities,” including “Cynic” and “Geek,” to customize the communication style to their preferences. Additionally, the “Advanced Voice Mode” feature is now available to all users, and connection to Gmail, Google Calendar, and contacts now occurs automatically after permission is granted.
GPT-5 introduces a new security system called “Safe Completions.” Instead of outright rejecting requests that violate rules, the model attempts to provide the most helpful response within the allowed limits or explains why it cannot assist. OpenAI emphasizes that GPT-5 is not a replacement for a doctor but better aids in finding health information and timely highlights potentially serious symptoms.
For developers, an extended API with new tools is provided, including the ability to manage analysis depth, response style, and work with large data volumes. GPT-5 is available in several versions, including mini and nano, for different needs and devices. The launch of GPT-5 has already begun and will gradually reach all ChatGPT users, and for corporate and educational clients, this model will become standard in the coming weeks.
