OpenAI has opened the “Projects” feature for free users of ChatGPT. Now everyone can create separate workspaces for their chats, upload files, add their own instructions, and organize educational or work materials in one place.
Each project allows choosing a name, folder color, adding documents, and configuring how exactly AI will assist in working on tasks. For example, a student can create a folder for a course, upload notes, presentations, other materials, and ask ChatGPT to answer questions like a teacher.
Users can add previous chats to a project, save them, and quickly find the necessary information. Free accounts are allowed to upload up to five files per project, Plus accounts up to 25, and Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts up to 40.
OpenAI has also added the ability to choose icons and colors for better organization and manage memory separately for each project. The feature is already available on the web version and on Android, and it will be launched for iOS in the coming days.
