OpenAI is preparing a series of updates for its web app, including a new “enhanced memory” feature, also known as “Moonshine.” This feature allows ChatGPT to remember previous conversations, making interactions more context-aware over time. An announcement about this feature is already available to users, suggesting, for example, trying the command: “Describe me based on all our chats. Make it vivid.” This enables ChatGPT to use memory to create a personalized description.
In addition to memory, OpenAI is working on implementing a notification feed. This new section will allow users to view previous announcements and learn about recently added features. It’s a small but important addition that will help users stay up to date with the latest news.
Some users have also noticed a new “Whisper” button on the website. This feature provides voice input and is already available on mobile and desktop apps. Its appearance on the web version hints that voice input will soon become available to a wider audience of users.
Additionally, OpenAI continues to work on a “reasoning slider” that will let users choose how much effort the model should put into completing a task. Options include “automatic,” “think a bit,” and “think more.” The goal is to simplify the experience for users who may not be familiar with the technical differences between model types. At the moment, none of these new ChatGPT features are fully available, except for early reports of the Whisper button and Moonshine memory for some users, but new announcements and broader access are expected in the coming weeks.
