OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is considering developing its own browser with integrated AI. According to The Information, the company has already discussed this project with developers such as Conde Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite, and Priceline. Sources who have seen prototypes say the upcoming browser is expected to combine search engine and chatbot features to provide more accurate and convenient answers.
Previously, OpenAI took its first step in this direction by launching SearchGPT—a search engine integrated into ChatGPT. This move put the company in direct competition with Google, which dominates the browser market thanks to Chrome.
The situation is becoming more complicated for Google: the US Department of Justice is insisting on the sale of Chrome due to accusations of monopoly in the search market.
OpenAI is also considering integrating its AI features into Samsung devices—a key business partner for Google. The company is already collaborating with Apple, powering “Apple Intelligence” features with its technology.
Currently, OpenAI does not plan to launch the browser immediately, but the very prospect has already generated significant interest in the industry.
