OpenAI has announced the launch of Advanced Voice mode for the desktop versions of ChatGPT on Mac and PC. Previously, this mode was only available on mobile devices. The update was announced on X with the phrase “Big day for desktops.”
Advanced Voice mode offers users the ability to have natural conversations with ChatGPT, using one of nine different voices. To access this mode, you need to be a ChatGPT Plus subscriber, but there is a free option limited to ten minutes of conversation per month.
This mode is powered by the ChatGPT-4o model, which allows you to interrupt the AI at any time so it starts listening. This is especially convenient when the responses become too long.
OpenAI is also working on a new Voice Clips feature that will allow you to save short audio clips of your interactions with ChatGPT.
