At CES 2025, Nvidia introduced a new technology called “ACE,” which enables the creation of autonomous game characters capable of interacting with players in real time. This technology will first be implemented in PUBG, where players will be able to receive support from an AI companion called “PUBG Ally.” This character will be able to talk to the player, provide strategic recommendations, find and share loot, drive vehicles, and participate in battles.

Nvidia claims that ACE characters are able to “perceive, plan, and act like human players.” They use generative AI, allowing for the creation of dynamic game worlds with companions who understand the player’s goals and enemies who adapt to the player’s tactics. These characters are based on small language models that can make decisions with logic close to human reasoning and use multimodal models to perceive audio and visual cues.

The ACE technology will also be used in other games. For example, in Naraka: Bladepoint Mobile, where the AI companion feature will appear starting March 2025. These AI characters will be able to join the player’s team, find necessary items, exchange equipment, suggest skills to unlock, and help achieve victory.

And in Krafton’s upcoming game inZOI, there will be CPC characters called “Smart Zoi.” ACE characters can also act as bosses, which will be implemented in MIR5 by Wemade Next.
