Netflix has started testing a new search feature based on OpenAI technologies. According to Bloomberg, this feature allows users to search for shows using more specific terms, including mood. This means that subscribers will be able to make requests that go far beyond standard genres or actor names.
The new feature is available to some users in Australia and New Zealand on iOS devices. Netflix spokesperson MoMo Zhou confirmed this information, noting that testing will expand to the US in the coming weeks and months, but there are currently no plans to introduce this feature on other platforms.
“This is just the beginning for this feature, and we are in the process of learning and gathering feedback from users,” Zhou noted. This approach allows the company to better understand how the new technology can improve user experience and meet their needs.
Earlier, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters said in an interview that the company has a long history of using machine learning and AI in its recommendation systems. This not only expands opportunities for content creators but also improves the user experience.
