The French laboratory Mistral introduced a line of models called “Magistral”. The company officially announced two versions — “Magistral Small” and “Magistral Medium”, each aimed at different user needs. “Magistral Small” opens doors for the developer community with open source and a free Apache 2.0 license, while “Magistral Medium” is already operational in corporate solutions and available through the Le Chat platform and partner clouds.
Mistral pays special attention to the logical capabilities of the model — what distinguishes “Magistral” from competitors. It solves tasks step by step, demonstrating stability in the fields of mathematics, physics, and programming. A new “Think” button has appeared in Le Chat, allowing users to observe a transparent and consistent reasoning process.
“Magistral Medium” is positioned as a powerful tool for business, capable of handling complex calculations, decision trees, and rule systems. The company emphasizes speed — responses are provided ten times faster than main competitors in Le Chat, and support for many languages, including Italian, Arabic, and Simplified Chinese, makes the model versatile for global tasks.
The launch of “Magistral” was the next step after the release of “Mistral Code” and the corporate version of Le Chat. The model is already being implemented in various products and API, and an expansion of access for a wider audience is expected soon.
