Microsoft announced a new feature for Notepad — Rewrite, which allows users to edit text with AI. This feature is already available in preview for Windows Insider participants. With it, users can rephrase sentences, adjust tone, and change the length of the text.
To use the new feature, you need to select text in Notepad, right-click, and choose Rewrite. Notepad will offer three rewritten text options. The generated content is filtered to avoid harmful or unwanted material. At the same time, the company guarantees that user data remains confidential.
Currently, the Rewrite feature is supported on Windows 11 for users in the US, France, the UK, Canada, Italy, and Germany. Each user from these countries receives 50 AI credits. Microsoft 365 subscribers can get additional credits, which are renewed monthly.
