Microsoft AI has introduced its first image generator based on text descriptions, MAI-Image-1. This AI was developed internally and has already entered the top 10 on LMArena, where users evaluate the results of various systems.
Developers claim that MAI-Image-1 creates photorealistic images, including natural phenomena and landscapes, and operates faster than larger models. Microsoft involved creative professionals in testing to avoid repetitions and stereotypical styles in the results.
MAI-Image-1 complements other company products, including the MAI-Voice-1 AI voice generator and the MAI-1-preview chatbot. Microsoft is actively developing its AI models while also integrating Anthropic developments into some Microsoft 365 features.
The company emphasized the importance of safe and responsible operation of the new AI. Microsoft plans to use MAI-Image-1 for various creative and professional tasks that require quick and high-quality image creation based on text descriptions.
