Microsoft has provided free access to the voice mode of Copilot and the Think Deeper feature, which run on the o1 model from OpenAI. Previously, these capabilities were limited for free users, but now the company offers unlimited use, allowing users to have extended conversations with the AI assistant.
The Think Deeper feature is designed to analyze complex queries, such as evaluating the pros and cons of major home purchases, taking into account cost and long-term value. Microsoft notes that users may experience interruptions in these new features during periods of heavy usage, but the company is working to provide unlimited access to as many people as possible.
Copilot Pro subscribers will still have privileged access to the latest AI models during peak times. They will also receive early access to new experimental features that will be added to Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This move by Microsoft comes two years after the launch of Copilot in the Bing search engine and just a month after the Copilot Pro subscription update. The company continues to sell the subscription for $20 per month, giving users additional opportunities to use Copilot in selected Microsoft 365 apps.
