Microsoft is updating Copilot and adding a new video generation feature to the Composer menu alongside existing options for creating images, podcasts, quizzes, and reports. This capability is expected to be powered by OpenAI’s Sora 2, which was previously accessible only through a separate application. For free users, the feature in Copilot will be limited to one video per day, while subscribers will be able to create videos without restrictions. This will allow creators and professionals to quickly produce video content without leaving the Copilot environment.
Additionally, Microsoft is updating the Copilot sidebar and adding a “Shopping” tab, located next to the Library, Labs, and Discover sections. Previously, this spot was occupied by the Gallery tab, which has now been renamed “Imagine.” This reflects a trend of renaming similar to the approach in other services, such as Grok.
The “Shopping” tab consolidates order and product tracking, which were previously available only in settings. Microsoft plans to expand e-commerce integrations through the Copilot Merchants program and add a built-in wallet for shopping. This extends the existing capabilities for shopping and order management directly within Copilot.
Official launch dates for the new features have not yet been announced. The updates aim to make Copilot a convenient tool for creativity, work, and shopping, combining various use scenarios in one service.
