Microsoft Copilot has introduced a new feature — the ability to create podcasts based on any topic or materials provided by the user. During a demonstration at the fiftieth anniversary event of Copilot, the company showcased how the assistant can turn text or ideas into a short conversation between two synthetic hosts, reminiscent of the “Audio Overview” format introduced by Google last year.
The user selects a topic or inserts their own text, after which Copilot analyzes the material, prepares a script, and voices the dialogue using its proprietary speech synthesis neural network. Playback remains interactive — if you pause the podcast and ask a question while listening, Copilot immediately adapts the conversation, making multitasking easier and the interaction more convenient.
The feature allows users to create personalized programs that can cover a wide range of topics — from vacation planning to scientific article reviews. This opens up new opportunities for Windows and Bing users, who can now receive dynamic audio overviews without the need to search for separate services.
Microsoft reports that Copilot Podcasts will become available to a wide range of users in the coming weeks, while enterprise, mobile, and API versions are expected later this year after testing is completed.
