Microsoft is expanding the capabilities of its Copilot platform by integrating features for 3D games. In a new job posting, the company is seeking a senior software engineer in Beijing specializing in 3D visualization engines. This indicates Microsoft’s intention to make games an important part of the Copilot user experience.
Earlier in February, the company showcased an AI model called Muse, which will be able to create short interactive games on the Copilot platform. Muse is trained on the game Bleeding Edge by Ninja Theory and can understand the physics of the game world and the game’s reactions to player actions, allowing it to create AI-generated gameplay.
Additionally, Microsoft is working on integrating Copilot into video games, starting with Minecraft. Copilot can answer players’ questions, such as “How do I craft a sword?”, by searching for the necessary materials in the player’s inventory and providing instructions on how to obtain missing components.
In its efforts to boost user engagement, Microsoft is also experimenting with character-based Copilot features. In particular, animated characters have been discovered that interact with users through sound effects and animations.
