Meta has added new AI-based photo and video editing features directly in Instagram Stories. Now users can input text prompts to add or remove objects in photos and videos or completely change the image. These capabilities are available in the “Restyle” menu, which opens after tapping the brush icon in Stories.
To edit a photo, you need to select “add,” “remove,” or “change” and describe the desired change in the prompt line. For example, you can request to change hair color, add a crown, or insert a sunset background. Among the pre-set effects are changing clothing style, adding glasses or a jacket, and a watercolor effect for images.
For videos, users can add effects like snow or flames. These features simplify the creation of unique content without the need for complex editing. Previously, similar functions were only available through the Meta AI chatbot.
Meta states that by using these features, users agree to terms that allow AI to analyze content and create new elements based on uploaded images. The company also continues to introduce new AI tools, including the recently launched “Write with Meta AI” prompt for comments and the “Vibes” video feed in the Meta AI app.
