Google has opened access to the basic version of its video editor Vids for all users. Previously, this AI-enhanced program was available only to Google Workspace subscribers or AI plan users, but now anyone can use its basic features. Users can create videos using templates, stock images, and videos, as well as utilize some AI-based tools.
In Vids, you can quickly assemble a video presentation using prompts for script creation, recommended scenes, background music, and ready-made images. The service allows you to choose from twelve prepared avatars with different appearances and voices, and add your own text for narration. Currently, you cannot create your own avatar, but you can add your own video to the presentation.
Google has added the ability to create short 8-second videos with a specific image, for example, to showcase a new product. Another new feature is the automatic removal of filler words and pauses from recordings using AI. This will help make presentations more concise and understandable.
According to product manager Vishnu Sivaji, such tools will help companies save time and money when creating training materials, product demonstrations, or user support videos. Google plans to add even more features, including new video formats, filters, and backgrounds.
