Google is testing a new variant of its video generation model Veo 3 called “Fast,” which is likely to allow for faster and cheaper video creation. Mentions of this version have appeared in the Flow Editor — a platform presented at Google I/O 2025 that enables work with Veo models. The “Fast” variant is aimed at those who value speed and savings, even if it means some reduction in video quality.

Flow Editor, available in the USA for “AI Pro” and “AI Ultra” subscribers, operates on a credit system. Users can create short videos up to eight seconds long using text or graphic prompts and then compose them into longer scenes through the built-in editor.
The Veo 3 model is distinguished by its support for sound generation — it can create dialogues, effects, and background noise. However, there are concerns that in the “Fast” version, these capabilities may be absent. Some users have already encountered that not all videos generated by Veo 3 contain sound, even if it was specified in the request.
Google has not officially announced the launch of “Fast” for Veo 3, and detailed information about its features and release date is lacking. Nevertheless, the development of such a model aligns with the company’s strategy — to offer flexible AI tools for various use scenarios, from large-scale projects to quick content creation.
