Google has announced the availability of its generative AI model Veo 2 for users with a Gemini Advanced subscription, which is part of the paid Google One AI Premium plan. Subscribers can now create videos up to eight seconds long in 720p resolution and 16:9 format using text prompts. Finished videos can be downloaded in MP4 format or instantly shared via services like TikTok and YouTube using the “share” button in the Gemini apps.
The Veo 2 model stands out for its improved understanding of real-world physics and human movement, enabling realistic scenes and smooth character motion in a variety of styles. Each generated video contains a digital SynthID watermark, indicating that the content was created using AI. Users can describe the desired scene in detail to maximize control over the final result.
Google One AI Premium subscribers also have access to the experimental Whisk Animate feature, which allows previously created images to be turned into short videos using Veo 2. This feature is implemented in Google Labs and is available globally. The previous version of Whisk allowed users to create new images based on text and visual prompts, and now its functionality has been expanded with animation.
Video generation in Veo 2 has a monthly limit on the number of clips that can be created, and users are notified as they approach this limit. The update rollout has already begun and will become available to all Gemini Advanced users soon.
