Google Translate introduces a new feature for selecting the translation model with options “Fast” and “Advanced”. It appears under the “Google Translate” logo at the top of the app. By default, the “Advanced” option is active, which is listed first. Clicking on the container opens a new selection window where you can choose the desired model for text translation. The design of the new feature resembles the Gemini app, although in it, the model selection was recently moved to the input field.
The “Advanced” model provides high accuracy for complex translations, while “Fast” is suitable for quick results. Google indicates that “Advanced” currently supports text translation only for certain languages.
So far, this feature has appeared on some devices with iOS, but it is not yet visible on Android. The company does not specify whether this feature will be free or may become part of Google AI Pro, as is the case with other similar features.
In August, Google reported that by using Gemini models in Translate, it was possible to significantly improve translation quality, add multimodal capabilities, and enhance the text-to-speech function.
