Google is preparing new generative media features for the NotebookLM service — a “Video Overviews” button has appeared in the web interface, which may allow users to turn their notes into short video summaries. These videos will likely be created by the Veo 2 model, which specializes in generating concise video segments lasting from ten to twenty seconds. The video format is expected to be templated, similar to the already available audio overviews, which are based on dialogues between two synthetic hosts with fixed voices.
We are officially less than two weeks away from #GoogleIO which marks exactly one year since we first unveiled audio overviews (and what a year it has been!) Rest assured, we've got some more exciting stuff planned for this year's event. 😋😋😋

What are some of your predictions?
The introduction of video overviews will expand NotebookLM’s capabilities, adding a visual layer of information delivery to text and audio analysis. This paves the way for creating concise visual summaries of key ideas from notebooks, which can be used for quick familiarization or sharing with others.
In addition to video overviews, NotebookLM now features a new “Editor’s Choice” section, indicating a future ability to browse and interact with other users’ public notebooks. This approach could give the service a community aspect, allowing not only work with private materials but also sharing knowledge in a more open format.
All these innovations coincide with preparations for the launch of the NotebookLM mobile version for iOS and Android, scheduled for May 20. According to preliminary information from app stores, the mobile app will focus on listening to audio overviews and will likely allow sharing notebooks. The full list of new features is expected to be presented at the Google I/O conference at the end of the month.
