Google is preparing a significant update for its AI note-taking service NotebookLM. Soon, a new artifact type “Quiz” will appear in the Notebook Apps menu, working alongside the “Flashcards” feature. Both functions create educational materials based on user-uploaded sources and are designed for students, professionals, and anyone seeking active learning.
“Quiz” will allow generating interactive tests specifically tailored to the uploaded content. After working with “Flashcards,” users will be able to test their knowledge with these quizzes. The Artifact Studio interface is being updated, highlighting Google’s desire to make learning tools a part of NotebookLM.
Among the upcoming features is the possibility of creating short video reviews based on notes or selected topics. This option will help those who better perceive information visually. Additionally, users will receive new options for sharing materials, including the ability to share individual “Flashcards” or “Quiz” without full access to the entire notebook.
Another update concerns the support of new source formats. Soon, it will be possible to upload Word documents, not just Google Docs, which will simplify the work for those using different file types for learning.
