The Google app for iOS has introduced a new feature called “Simplify,” which uses AI to turn complex or technical text into a more understandable version without leaving the web page. The feature is powered by the Gemini model, specifically trained to accurately rewrite complicated passages without losing important details.
To use “Simplify,” simply highlight any text on a web page in the Google app, and the corresponding icon will appear in the action menu. By tapping it, users receive a simpler version of the text in a pop-up window, which can be closed when no longer needed. This allows users to quickly grasp complex concepts and continue reading without searching for additional information on other sites.
According to Google, the model was tested on a variety of topics—from medicine and biology to literature and finance. During research, users noted that simplified texts helped them better understand and remember the material compared to the original complex passages.
“Simplify” is already available for iPhone owners in the Google app. The company has not yet announced plans to launch this feature on Android or in other products, but emphasizes its commitment to making complex topics more accessible to a wider audience.
