Google has expanded the capabilities of its Gemini app by adding a feature to create videos from photos using the Veo 3 model. Now, users with a Google AI Ultra or Google AI Pro subscription can upload images, select the “Video” option in the tool menu, and describe the desired scene or movement to be in the clip. The request can include a description of the audio accompaniment, and the AI will create a video with synchronized audio effects, dialogues, and background sounds.
The new tool is available through the Gemini app on the web version and is gradually appearing on mobile devices in various countries. Each user with the appropriate subscription can create up to three videos per day. The finished clips are up to eight seconds long, saved in MP4 format with a resolution of 720p and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
All videos made with Veo 3 receive a visible “Veo” watermark and an invisible digital tag SynthID, which helps identify AI-created content. Google reports that in seven weeks, users have already created over 40 million videos using this feature in the Gemini and Flow apps.
The feature allows animating ordinary objects, drawings, or nature photos by adding movement and sound. It is suitable for creative experiments, creating short clips, and sharing results with other users.
