Google announced the launch of a new “Guided Learning” feature in the AI Gemini. It helps users gain a deeper understanding of complex topics rather than just receiving ready-made answers. During learning, Gemini breaks tasks into individual steps, asks clarifying questions, and tailors explanations to each user’s needs. In its responses, Gemini uses images, diagrams, videos, and interactive tests to reinforce knowledge and check material comprehension.
Users can ask Gemini to create flashcards for memorization or generate a concise summary based on test results or study materials. Additionally, Gemini’s responses now automatically include illustrations, diagrams, and videos from YouTube, making it easier to understand complex topics. The updates are already available in the mobile app and web version of Gemini for all users, and Workspace for Education accounts will receive them later this quarter.
Google has also opened up the opportunity for students from the USA, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Brazil to use the Google AI Pro subscription for free for a year. The subscription includes access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, Deep Research, 2 TB in Drive, NotebookLM, the Veo 3 video generator, and increased limits for the programming agent Jules. To take advantage of the offer, you need a verified student account and must register by October 6.
The implementation of new learning features and the expanded subscription is part of Google’s three-year program to fund education with a total of 1 billion dollars. The program covers enhancing digital literacy, supporting research, and providing access to cloud resources for higher education institutions. Over 100 universities have already joined this initiative.
