Google continues to expand the capabilities of Gemini, announcing integration with GitHub. In addition to the existing “Code Folder” feature, which allows users to upload the contents of a local folder, users will now be able to connect their GitHub accounts and select specific repositories to work with Gemini. This expanded functionality is reminiscent of existing features in Claude, indicating Google’s gradual entry into this field. After setting up the integration, Gemini will have access to the repository’s contents, but users will retain control over which repositories to connect.
One of the limitations of the new feature is the ability to upload only one GitHub repository or one local folder at a time. This restriction is likely related to performance and privacy considerations. The feature is expected to be introduced soon, given the upcoming Cloud Next event.
In addition to GitHub integration, Google is preparing to launch Veo 2. Recently, several major creators gained access to this model, which appears as a separate option in the model selector. Users can utilize Veo 2 to generate videos, not just text responses, distinguishing this feature from the previously anticipated image animation capability via the “Creative Partner” tool.

Veo 2 promises to be one of the best models for text-to-video and image-to-video conversion available today. If this feature becomes accessible to advanced users, it could significantly increase the value of a Gemini subscription.
