Google is preparing to launch a new experimental product called “Flow,” which will be presented at the upcoming Google I/O event, likely on May 20th. The feature has already appeared in Google Labs with the tagline “inspire your inner storyteller by creating videos,” indicating its focus on generating creative videos. According to preliminary information, “Flow” is based on the capabilities of the Veo and Imagen models, which will receive new versions — Veo 3 and Imagen 4 — at the same event.
Last year, Google introduced the VideoFX tool, which initially had a “Storyboard” feature for frame-by-frame video creation from a series of generated images. This feature was later removed, and VideoFX focused solely on creating individual videos based on text or visual prompts. Now, the “Storyboard” concept has been spun off into a separate product — “Flow.”
It is anticipated that “Flow” will allow users to describe a plot, create images using Imagen, and then transform them into video segments using Veo. This approach could be beneficial for storytellers, educators, marketers, and anyone seeking a more structured process for creating video content.
Some users have already noticed a new interface for creating projects in “Flow,” but this feature was quickly disabled. Since the development has been ongoing for over a year and the product has started appearing for select users in Labs, there is a high likelihood that its launch will occur shortly after Google I/O.
