Google introduced a new app Doppl, which allows users to virtually try on clothes. The app is available for smartphones on Android and iOS in the USA. To use Doppl, you need to upload your photo and then add a snapshot or screenshot of the desired clothing, for example, from social media or photographed in a store.
After that, Doppl creates an image where the digital version of the user is dressed in the chosen outfit. In addition to static photos, the app can generate short videos to show how the clothing looks “in motion.” All fittings can be saved, viewed, and shared.
Doppl has restrictions to protect privacy and prevent the creation of unwanted images. The app does not accept photos with revealing clothing and does not allow the use of images of famous people. During testing, users also noticed that sometimes the AI incorrectly processes details, for example, it may not accurately depict pants or change individual parts of the clothing.
