Google has started rolling out AI-generated news summaries in the Discover feed for Android and iOS users in the USA. Instead of the traditional card with a single publication’s logo in the top left corner, several small icons now appear, illustrating how many sources the AI used to create the summary. Tapping opens the “More” window, where all mentioned articles can be viewed.

Each news item contains three lines of text, after which you need to tap “See more” to view the full summary. The program warns that the summary is AI-generated and may contain errors. The cover image is taken from the first article, and its title is placed under the photo. The publication’s name has become less noticeable next to the date and time of publication.
AI-based summaries appear alongside classic cards of individual articles in Discover. Simultaneously, Google is testing a new “Save” icon directly on the card, allowing materials to be added to bookmarks more quickly, which can then be viewed in the Activity tab. The features are not yet available to all users and are only accessible in the USA.
Google confirmed the launch of this feature, emphasizing its focus on popular topics in life, sports, and entertainment. The company notes that the summaries will help users quickly navigate the news and decide whether to proceed to the full text of the article.
