Google has unveiled a new AI tool called Deep Research , which allows users to engage the Gemini bot for conducting research on the internet. This feature enables users to create detailed reports based on the information found. Currently, Deep Research is available only in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers.
Users can ask Gemini to research a particular topic, after which the chatbot creates a “multi-step research plan” that can be edited or approved. “We have built a new agentic system that leverages Google’s expertise in finding relevant information online to guide Gemini’s research,” said David Citron, Director of Product for Gemini.
Deep Research also allows exporting research results to Google Docs for further editing. All key findings are organized into reports with links to original sources.
In addition to Deep Research, Google announced the availability of Gemini Flash 2.0 for developers. This is a faster next-generation chatbot version that delivers improved performance and speed. Deep Research is currently available only to Gemini Advanced users on the web version, but its launch in mobile apps is planned for early 2025.
